If you’re setting up an affiliate campaign for the very first time, the most important step you can take is to try to pick a market that:

1. Is proven to be profitable.

2. You are personally interested in.

 

What I’m trying to put across here is that the idea is not simply to build a standard affiliate promotion, but to build a ‘mini-business’ around the entire campaign.

And if you do this on something that interests you, your knowledge, interest and passion will naturally come across in your communications with your subscribers, which will almost certainly increase your credibility and, more important your profits.

For example, if you are interested in gardening, create and build a campaign and mini-business around gardening.

If you love dogs, build your business around dogs.

You get the idea.

But what if you don’t have any particular interests?

Well, there are obviously thousands of niches on the internet from which to choose. But, it’s absolutely crucial to research and evaluate whether a niche is going to be profitable or not.

A good place to start this process is at the Clickbank marketplace to see whether there are any related informational products. If there are and they have a ‘gravity’ above 20, there’s almost certain a market.

You can also go to Amazon and get all sorts of great ideas about niches. If you go into the magazine section and do a general search. If it has a magazine dedicated to it, it is a niche. The more magazines you see the bigger the market is in general.
